*curls up in ball and dies*

AHHHHH SONNY MOORE HAS LEFT FROM FIRST TO LAST.
*dies*
see here for details.
[thats the lead singer of a band that i like btw.]

also, i'm going to be deleting most of the links in my list soon, because no one really updates anymore...

that is all.
read the update below, since i did it tonight before i found out this dreadful, saddening news.

blog from a digital native.

so today was the first day of university for me.
it started with me not getting up, and as a result having half an hour less to do stuff. but its okay, i knew i was going to do that, so THOUGHT AHEAD, and asked mum to wake me up earlier than needed. gosh i'm smart, to outsmart myself. anyway, about 9:45, i tootled down to seymour to get the BLACK WATCH which is finally out, YAY. it looks great girls! :]

then i caught the bus to uni, met up with ellen, joel, hugh, steve [in that order], went to digi revs lecture, which, though not really having much substance , did manage to shock us, giving us a test about an hour in. after that, the remaining half hour was used showing us videos on youtube. the highlight of the lecture was probably experiencing the OCEAN that is thins sea salt & vinegar chips.

after said lecture, we [me, hugh, joel] went to the unibar, where i think hugh was meeting a friend? that never really happened, but i called ness, then we four went to the DJ's foo
dcourt, where i had my vegemite sandwich [YUM YUM IT WAS GREAT!]. i also ate some of ness' chips, and 'ingested' some of joel & hugh's chips. ness left at this point to go to a lecture, and we then went on a failed black hairspray mission, plus a satchel for hugh mission... but got distracted by clothes on many occasions...

we returned to the uni in order for hugh & i to attend our german workshop, and joel to go to whatever he had. german was scary, becuase everybody has lived in germany for like A MILLION YEARS and all speak it fluently. no exaggeration, especially with the million years bit. nah it was sorta like the extra german last year, it wasnt that bad, i sat between amanda and hugh.

following that [i'm trying not to say 'then'...] we met up with joel again [and moshi tagged along for a few mins], to continue our hugh satchel hunt...

joel being the university, leaning against a tree;
[yes, BEING the university.]

we went to target to try to find bags, but got distracted by imitation connies [which only a connie connisseur would recognise as being such]...
and by imitation really ugly shoes...
aka... crocs.then we found the STATIONERY.
joel matched it.see?

we finally located the luggage section, where hugh found a 'cosmopolitan' bag... FILLED WITH SUSHI. not really.Baby's First Psychological Drama Chair™

Mama and Papa chairs. [i was sitting on the baby one]thats perspective for you!...but hugh has HUGE feet...

and is a sad aviators wearer...and to finish up, a picture of the three... shoppers.
and finally, i will end with a poignant question...
why does blogger have to be so crap and slow and crap with the picture uploadage?!
love you all.

drool = "I WANT YOU."

i love live music.
its one of the best things in the world.
seriously.
saturday night was the OBall Local Band Competition Finals;
aka, at OBall, there is a local band playing, and it was the finals to determine who's going to play.
there were eight bands that played, i was only there for seven of them though, due to eating dinner, and thus getting there late. [by like an hour...] but the bands we saw were;
-Is This Art? - they were good, i liked them.
-Bakewell Street - good, more musically talented than Is This Art?, but i preferred ITA?...
-Blow Up Betty - one of the three bands i'd heard of before saturday night, all girls, they were pretty good i think
-Fire! Santa Rosa, Fire! - second of the bands i'd heard of - they played at BDO [i didn't see them though], were OKAY but sorta repetitive.
-The Divide - have a BEAUTIFUL song called 'Last Breath', not my kinda music, but still good. [btw, if you want the song, i downloaded it off their myspace [from which they've now removed it] soooo i could probably send it to you if you want it...]
-
The Sundance Kids - third of the bands i'd heard of, they were very good, i've had 'The Tide' by them on repeat for a while tonight. i saw a guy from my primary school afterwards too, woo
-City Riots - the best by far in my opinion, definitely stood out. hopefully seeing them again at the end of march, anyone in?

in the end, Fire! Santa Rosa, Fire! won, with The Sundance Kids coming second by one vote.

anyway, as we all know, i love live music, and i love photography, so the two combined are like WOO.
so here are some pics i took.
[note: the brother/ brother-in-law of 3 of the band members of The Divide has a better camera... ON HIS PHONE :'( am saving for a new one, i want more MP and more zoom. but still a compact camera. suggestions anybody?]

Blow Up Betty:

Fire! Santa Rosa, Fire!
even though this one's heaps dark, i like it...
The Divide

The Sundance Kids

City Riots
despite general crap composition and camera shake, i quite like this photo.
and the same picture, in black and white, which i think looks rather cool. woohoo for word having grayscale/ brightness/ contrast controls...
but anyway. it was a good night for the most part.
hmm, for some reason, i just thought about how cool it'd be if A7X toured here. that'd be fun. crazy, but good. lib - dropkicks? anyone wanna go see the matches onnnnn.. i think its april or may some time? yes? WOO!

love you all.

ps, subway trivia of the day #1: the macadamia cookies are 33% fat.
subway trivia of the day #2: joel gets 10 points, because he came to visit me.

emo

this morning at the dentist's, i was reading a GIRLFRIEND magazine [mostly because it was the only teenie mag there]. i glanced at the cover, and a headline caught my eye - How emo are you? I of course pointed it out to mum, and she laughed while i found the quiz. it unfortunately didn't put you on a scale of one to ten, or give you a percentile of your emo-ness, but it had four bands which you could apparently be like.
Mostly A: Panic! At The Disco
Mostly B: ...i dont remember...
Mostly C: My Chemical Romance
Mostly D: AFI

But the question that really made me crack up was as follows;

8. My guilty secret:
a) I have Lee Harding's album
b) I study on weekends
c) I smiled last week
d) I cried when i heard Zach and Mandy broke up.

LMFAO, I SMILED LAST WEEK.
BAHAHA.
i was laughing so hard.

speaking of emo, i was listening to The Used's album, In Love and Death tonight, because i haven't for a while, its rather good i must say.

i had my first shift at unley today, and i would like to say the following;
IT
WAS
SO
BUSY
that is all.
no not really. of course i'm going to talk about it more. i worked from 12-7:30, and it was so busy that i didn't stop [mostly serving or washing dishes since the boys all seem to be too lazy to do them themselves]. i mean, especially coming from parky like me, when we maybe did a 10 if we were lucky [okay maybe a 20] [that refers to how many customers in an hour]... i think today we did a 40, and after the rush, mitch and nick were like "yeah... thats not busy" and i was like... :| *faints* haha. urgh, and i burnt myself on the toaster so many times today. well not on the toaster itself, more on the paper once it comes OUT of the toaster... its toasty warm! ah well. i guess i had a pretty good day.

love you all.
x.

ps, if anyone was wondering, for the quiz, i got mostly C's.

this is horrible

:|
i have nothing to blog about.
this is an incredibly sad day for all.
i haven't really been up to much lately, worked last night, then went to phil's, which was fun - i love you guys, we're all crazy and have so many 'in' jokes, but i love you.
then tonight we had our first old collegians reunion, which was... disappointing.
we were supposed to get our black watchs. but we DIDNT. also it was disappointing how few people turned up. not that i would have talked to them anyway, but you know. but the pizza was good!
i start at the unley subway on thursday, so that'll be coooool...
OWeek next week, then uni starts the week after...
perhaps then i'll have something to blog about.
this truly is terrible...
love you ALL.

refer title track #6

today i had a good evening at work.
i started at 4:30, and worked until about 9:15, because we shut early *sniggers*
about 4:55, i had rather a shock.
i looked at the rosters for the next couple of weeks, and discovered... i wasn't on them. so mel told me to call lisa, and i did, and i'm like 'umm hi, this is sarah rogers... i'm not on the rosters...' and she said 'oh yeah, i was going to call you... you're being moved to the unley store! because... yeah, well your training's finished...'

now, i did already know that i was being transferred there, at the end of my training, but i expected my training to be longer than about a month... but thats OKAY.

apart from the fact that it'll take about twice as long to get to unley as it does to get to parkside, and that unley's way busier than parky... damn being paid to actually do things, rather than just sit around... haha oh well.

in other news, my night was further made better by my making my dinner [6" chicken teriyaki... really should find a different sub to have, the chicken is actually disgusting... but the beef is MINIMUM 66% beef!] when about FOUR PEOPLE came in!!! and for us parky kids, thats B.U.S.Y. so i had to discard my nice warm sub, and help serve... but luckily my sub was still warm when i got to it.

however, despite these seemingly not so great things, tonight was actually good, because both mel and i kept busy, rather than just sitting around for 4 hours, which is what usually happens... so despite my complaining about actually having to do work, i don't mind it.

my night actaully was made better though, because WTTBP was played twice, and Famous Last Words was in a Nova 19 i think... so yay! plus they played Green Day.

so all in all, i had a surprisingly good evening, and am now rather hyperactive.
WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
love you all.
x.

Big Day Out.

was awesome.
the day started when i met steph and rachel (squawker) at the balls at 10, then we were going to be picked up by law at 10:15... but he forgot his ticket. so we hopped on the BIG DAY OUT bus, and stood in the no standing bit.
so we got there, i saw nick on the way in, then at about 10:45 we were in, after a minor stall at the bag-check...

security #1: you're not allowed to take cameras in... see... you're not allowed to take cameras in, right?
security #2: yeah, but no video cameras...
security #1: oh okay then...

then we were in.
we wandered round for a little while, then went and sat on the grass. then sat in the stands. then saw lawson so went and chatted to him + friends. then lexi and erin found us, so we hung out with them and went back to the stands.

then...
The Butterfly Effect.
erin's uni friends were in the front row, so we got to the second row!!.
they were awesome.

the lead singer took his top off- "its hot up here on stage!"

the audience:
and a video:

then after that was evermore... but after we [erin & i] heard adelaide try to sing along... we went and got hotdogs for lunch, then wandered around, and got free cds!
after that, scribe started, and i wanted to get back in for MCR, so i did, while erin went up to the stands. so i wandered over to the blue stage, and was about 15 rows back. i sort of talked to a guy in a green shirt and aviators, he was pretty cool, and wanted to elbow all the emos and punks. so after scribe finished, we all stood there, nervous with excitement, and the safety guy came out and told everyone to be careful and stuff.

and this is what the stage looked like;

and then....
the sign saying 'MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE' slowly rose...
we all started going crazy...
then they walked out onto stage [my eyes are actually welling up with emotion as i'm writing this] [no, seriously...] and the first few bars of I'm Not Okay started...
we all cheered again, and surged forward... started jumping...

green shirt: do you wanna go to the front?? :D
me: YES! :D
green shirt: okay, LETS PUSH! :D
*we both push through people*

i'm pretty sure he got to the front row, i ended up about 5 rows back, where i found lawson, who had apparently partaken in circle dancing aka washing machine dancing aka SLAM PIT [thats apparently the correct name for it]

This is how I Disappear:

i was feeling particularly exhausted and about ready to faint and needed air, but i had to stay in there, they're my favourite band, i had to. after Welcome to the Black Parade;

...i decided that i had to get out, so i told law and we both got out... i collapsed on the ground and got out my water... and law poured a bottle over my head. hahaha. i was sitting down for a whole song [i actually have no idea what it was, i know they played Thankyou for the Venom at some stage... maybe then? but i remember standing up yelling HALLELUJAH LOCK AND LOAD... perhaps i wasnt standing...] then i stood again and tried to film [but was so exhausted that i couldn't hold the camera straight...]

in fact, i have on video record, the following conversation...
sez: LAW!
law: oh, hi!
sez: HI!
law: this is extreme
sez: this is AWESOME.

UMMM then they played Helena and then Famous Last Words...
and that was the end.

it was a good mix of songs from Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge and >The Black Parade, but unfortunately no songs from their little-known first album, I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love, even though a few of us were yelling "PLAY HEADFIRST!" [Headfirst for Halos; one of my top 5 MCR songs...]

anyway, then Eskimo Joe started, so we wandered over there for a little while...

then we went back to the front of the blue stage, to get a good posi for John Butler Trio. while waiting, law and friend found a broken pair of sunnies on the ground...

then JBT came on stage, along with their incredibly political sign...

they were pretty rad i have to say. then they were like "DO YOU WANT A NUCLEAR WASTE DUMP IN AUSTRALIA?" and everyone yelled NO and it was cool. but at that stage we were walking over to the orange stage to get a good posi for The Killers.

After waiting round for a little while, me, law, and a few of his friends went in to the waiting crowd. i tried to delete a few of the photos/ videos off my camera to free up space, but really couldn't... i really had to ration the photos...

so as i was just standing there, this 30-yr-old man was trying to get this girl beside me to kiss this 15-yr-old on the cheek. eventually she did it, as did another girl, and the 30-y-o was like GOOD WORK MATE, thats TWO HOT CHICKS! then he was showing the kid how to chat up girls, and i got picked as the lucky chat-up-ee! yay for me. it was pretty funny, he'd say something, then make the kid repeat it. like "so you like the killers huh?" and stuff, then mr 30 gave me a kiss on the cheek and made mr 15 do it too.

then steph and erin waved to us... from the front row. so law and i tried to get down there, and ended up... not that far back, but we obviously couldnt get right to the front. then The Killers came on stage, BRANDON FLOWERS IS HOT. [lol alice] [gerard way is way hotter ;)] [get it?] [seriously]. their set was amazing, a mixture from Hot Fuss and Sam's Town, most of which i knew.

no idea what this song is though, ten points if you get it...

its a song i know, but... which one...

at the end, when The Killers had gone off stage, the packing up people threw the flowers that adorned the stage into the crowd. i caught one and fought over it with some guy, and ended up with the stalk... law caught some and gave them to some girl, and i asked for one of the flowers, and she gave me one! :D

we then made our way to the front of the crowd, where we listened to jet, who, while were good, drew out their songs so incredibly much. they just went FOREVER. i sat down in the second row and talked to libby's friend michaela, who was also sitting down.

muse went OFF. they were AMAZING. they started with Knights of Cydonia, and even though i didn't really know many of their songs, they were awesome. after a while, steph and erin let me into the front row between them which was soooo good.

Time is Running Out;

after that, lexi, steph and rach went off to see the audreys, whereas erin and i went to see tool. while we were walking over, guess who we saw.
MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE [well, gerard [singer], bob [drummer], and frank's stand-in/look-alike [frank being the second guitarist]] sitting on the structure you can see if you scroll up and look at the muse mosh... its just there on the left... yeah anyway they were sitting up there and i was nearly crying again...

yes i realise that its very dark, if i had photoshop i'd edit it, but i don't.

then Tool started. they were pretty good, if you're in to that sort of music, which i somewhat am... but i didn't think they were that amazing... but my hair was vibrating, it was THAT loud.

with about 15 mins left of that, i went back up to the stands, then went and bought another mcr tshirt [i bought one the other day], then met back up with erin on the way over to Violent Femmes, but then she, alex, steph and rach left, so i wandered round, took a couple of photos from the distance, then also went home...

all in all, i had an awesome day, so thanks to everyone who moshed with me! ; erin, lawson, steph. plus alex and rachel, because they're rad too.

but it was an amazing day, and i'm definitely going next year.

love you all!
