DER BILLIARDTISCH

last night, in the spirit of procrastination, i decided to read my german tour journal, from earlier this year. it was quite interesting, and fun to remember some of the crazy stuff we said and did. i think the most used phrase in there was 'it was so boring' 'i was so bored' 'we were all SO bored' etc :P i think we did just a FEW too many city tours and museum tours and stuff. dont get me wrong it was awesome :P just yeah, too many tours :P

however, the thing that actually made me laugh was the trip to wolfsburg [from hildesheim, on a school excursion], when seb & chris stole my mobile telephone and 'changed my welcome message MANY times to things such as "Will wants you in the sack", "Sarah is an emo", "Will likes men & U", "Germany is shit", "Fuck me love Chris"'

BAHAHA
well it made me laugh :P ahahha

CJ ROCKS
dudududududu

haha. toodeloo, i'm off to do english now.

title

within the pages of the beautifully presented booklet above lies 25% of my religion grade. AHHH.
but we handed them up today, which was kinda relieving! :D

in other news, i've been trying to put 3 countdowns on my page, but it appears that i can have only one - ideas anyone?

anyway, i was going to put my whole IDS on here, but i figure it'd bore everyone, and no one cares anyway, so this is my guiding question, focussing questions, and introduction for your reading [procrastinating?] enjoyment.

Guiding Question:
Does music, with accompanying lyrics, have the power to influence a person’s belief in, and understanding of God?

Focussing Questions:
Why is music such a powerful medium?
Is there any evidence that music can have a negative effect on a person’s perception of reality and of God? Example(s)?
Is Christian music effective in conveying the Christian message? Is there evidence for this?

INTRODUCTION
God must hate me, he cursed me for eternity,”[1] sings well known band, Simple Plan. Lyrics such as these, as well as Green Day’s Jesus of Suburbia first made me think about the power of music and lyrics on a person’s perception of reality and the Christian concept of God. If popular bands such as Green Day sing that “no one ever died for my sins in hell,”[2] I wondered to what extent these words could have a negative affect on a person’s understanding of the Christian message. Conversely, do the lyrics and music of bands and vocalists who sing of God’s love and forgiveness have a positive effect in the conveying of the Christian message?

[1] God Must Hate Me – Simple Plan. (2002).
[2] Jesus of Suburbia – Green Day. (2004).

ooh thats cool, it actually puts footnotes in!! how awesome are footnotes? i love them :P haha, i'm heaps cool... *shifty eyes*

anyway, i shall go do some work now.
x.

and wednesday is nudie day.

if she wishes she was a punk-rocker with flowers in her hair, then i have a question for you;

why didn't she sing a punk rock song, instead of a crappy, annoying poppy one?

that is the thought of the day, congratulations for participating.

in other news, we went to steph's last night which was lots of fun with lots of good food and good times, like
-dave sticking a mini australian flag to the fan with chewing gum
-retrieving the boys from turd mountain [candy moouuuntain charrrliiieee! shun the non-believer! shuuunnnnn], then being thanked by having clumps of earth thrown at us
-setting out for the above task crawling on our hands and knees...
-talking of chalices and other interesting things
-many *anna's chest slurping sound* moments and other anna moments... "hello max! do you want to lick me?"

haha.
yes anyway.
and we've all finished trial exams now, which is nice! [well, i havent had my german oral exam yet, which is slightly crap, but at the time that the other two had it, my voice was croak-iferous, so not terribly fun to talk..] but yeah, they were okay i guess.
anyway, i shall go now, because i want to, and i can't think of anything more to write.
toodelooo
sez.
ps, here are some pictures from last night [which, on reflection on the photos in my camera, was more of an AS-SM photo extravaganza... :P]

ARGH! it won't let me upload any more pictures. how crap. i'll try again in a minute...
here we go, AS-SM extravaganza CONTINUED! ;

...well we had fun :P

sarah, the baby emo

i was reading my old diary last night [lasted me from christmas 1996 till august last year], which was amusing but towards the end incredibly sad. and in the middle it was more pathetic sad. hmm. anyway, i found this entry, and thought it was interesting, and HIGHLY amusing. look at me, emo at 8 years old :P

Tuesday 22-7-98
Dear Diary,
Everybody hates me. Nobody loves me (except maybe dad).
I am Mad
nothing good happend today
misrible Sarah

*note spellings of Mad [capital!], 'happend', and 'misrible' XD

oh it made me laugh.

19-6-99 Saturday
Dear Diary,
This morning at about seven o'clock I woke up. It wasn't time to get up so I tried to go to sleep again. When it was time to get up, (7:30) I didn't want to get up but I had to because of netball. We won in netbal - 14 to 4! Our first win in Div. 2! Gran came and she brought me an 'American Ring Pop' from the canteen and gave Simon 50c and me 1 dollar. We got dad a Dry-as-a-bone. We then took gran home and went home ourselves. Simon was playing "Age of Empires" on the computer. We played "MotoRacer" then "Need for Speed 2". We played for a little while and then I went off in a huff. I changed and went out and lent on Simon so he bit me.
I have a headache.
SARAH

BAHAHA.
1. how good were american ring pops?!
2. there was a dragon lady in the canteen and if you didn't like the flavour of chupa chup you got, too bad [the other one let you change it though :P]
3. "gave Simon 50c and me 1 dollar" score :P
4. "I changed and went out and lent on Simon so he bit me" BAHAHA.
5. we were so proud of that win in 'netbal', and what's more, we went on to WIN THE GRAND FINALS. YEH. and we transferred from div 3 to div 2 midway through the season because we were too good for div 3 :P haha go us.

anyway, i just thought i'd share those two interesting entries with you all.
YARRRRR!!!

...choose one. except the first two, they're anna's and cj's. so really, choose out of sezcat or sez. or give me another name :P

ps- don't forget...

pps - watch this; shoes
its pretty amusing :P

ppps - for all of us exam-ing next week, i'd like to offer this advice: put anything down.
for example, in my geography exam last term, one of the questions from the issues analysis was:
An article entitled ‘Foot and Mouth is a good thing’ appeared in a UK newspaper at the height of the FMD crisis. The author of the article went on to say ‘If our herds are infected it can only be of economic benefit in the long run.’

What issue do you think the author of the article was raising with these comments? Support your answer wish specific information from Side 2 of the separate sheet. (2 marks)

And my answer - the proof that really, anything will do...

Eventually the herds may build up resistance to FMD, making them a “super-breed” of animals, meaning that the meat would sell for more, injecting wealth into the economy.

yes, believe it or not, i got a mark for that. i got one out of two. hahahahahahah

super-breed.
ness and i told the guy who took our last holiday revision course thing, and he just laughed at me :P
but the point it, I GOT A MARK FOR THAT :P

i turned 17 1/2 yesterday! woo!
less than 6 months till i'm 18! hooray!

in other news, i'm still feeling pretty sick, sore throat, blocked nose, tiredness. i went to the doctor's yesterday and he said i have a viral throat infection thing. so i've just been sleeping and coughing lots... haha. oh well.

i want to write about something interesting, but i have nothing to write about :(
andre and i went to the show on saturday, that was fun but it was definately better when you were a kid. we did get free icecream though. and saw lots of people we knew. thats always fun. and we took photos! but i took mine for photography and i haven't processed them yet so i duno if they turned out!

why?

i'm tired of feeling excluded at church
and i'm tired of being the only non-christian there
and everyone being all... wow god's so awesome, he kills people.
so
i'm not going anymore.

i just can't understand.
what the HELL.
why does god let people like tim and that year 6, nicole, die?? {for those of you who have no idea what i'm talking about, last friday nicole died} yes i know its all about free will, but WHY? why'd he even put the tree in the middle of the garden anyway? i mean, why not over in some corner somewhere? or better yet, not put it in the garden at all. if god knew what was going to happen... wait, if god knew what was going to happen, why did he let it? why didn't he stop it before he had to kick adam and eve out? before he had to send his son to DIE?
just... ARGH.
i don't even want the answers to those questions.
i'm sick of asking questions and getting crappy answers i already know.

so i'm not going to church anymore.
10c says i'm at sas on sunday.

did you know...

i found this out this morning, while writing my english oral, and found it quite interesting.
one can own a Hoover,
but one cannot hoover ones' carpet.
ie, word allows the noun, but not the verb. crazy.
